Germany: Crisis in WASG - the Left organise

The WASG (Arbeit und soziale Gerechtigkeit – Die Wahlalternative- Labour and Social Justice - The Electoral Alternative was) founded in 2005 by activists form the Social Democracy and various left groups. Together with the PDS, (Partei des Demokratischen Sozialismus), the lineal descendent of former ruling party in East Germany, it won 54 seats in last years parliamentary elections. This electoral block, called the Left Party (Linkspartei), is now engaged in a process of fusion. Read more...

Some 400 activists from across the whole range of currents within the anti-G8 mobilisation met in Rostock between 10 and 12 of November. European Social Forum Preparatory Assembly- the Left Organises

The largest delegations in Frankfurt came from Greece, France, Germany, Italy and Turkey. The attendance from Eastern Europe including Russia has also markedly increased. There were smaller, but active delegations from Austria, the Basque Country, Belgium, Denmark, Portugal and Sweden, plus a representative from Palestine.
